The Lake Simcoe region is a favourite year-round holiday destination with many area events and attractions. This Lake Simcoe waterfront cottage is located at prestigious Big Bay Point a short drive from downtown Barrie and just 45 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The 2200 square foot air conditioned Pan-abode cottage with 265 feet of waterfront offers spectacular views overlooking the sparkling waters of Lake Simcoe and Kempenfelt Bay. The sunsets are some of the nicest in Ontario. This cottage makes a marvelous vacation choice for families or small groups looking for a comfortable and relaxing get-a-away.
The cottage is set back about 180 feet from the road and has a long very large circular driveway offering privacy from the road and making for easy in and out access to and from the cottage. The classic Pan-abode cedar timber exterior and interior of the cottage, and wood plank flooring creates a warm and friendly feeling. Inside the front entry there is plenty of room for jackets and shoes. There are 4 bedrooms, three with great water views. One bedroom has a king bed, two bedrooms have queen beds and the fourth bedroom has bunk beds.
In the spacious living room area there are large bright picture
windows allowing you to appreciate the stunning lake view, a wood-burning
stone fireplace, two comfortable sofas and loveseat that provide
plenty of seating options, 42” cable TV and DVD; great for
a family movie night or watching the game. A door from the living
room area leads to the rear elevated deck overlooking the bay. The
open kitchen/dining area feature plenty of windows, stainless steel
appliances, and a dining table that comfortably seats 6 people.
The clean, modern, well equipped kitchen has everything you need
for your vacation meals. It includes a fridge/freezer, stove, oven,
microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and plenty
of cooking utensils and cookware. There is a door from the kitchen/dining
area that provides you with easy access to the side and rear deck.
There are 2 bathrooms - one is a 4-piece sink, toilet, tub/shower, and the other is a 2-piece sink, toilet bathroom. There is also a laundry room with a sink, washer and dryer for your laundry needs during your stay. The lower level of the cottage is used to store items belonging to the owner.
The side and rear deck area gives a great vantage point to gaze out across the water and enjoy the fresh air. On the deck at the cottage there is a propane BBQ for your outdoor grilling. After you have grilled your favourite vacation meal on the BBQ, you can sit down to enjoy a family outdoor dinner at the patio table with umbrella and 4 chairs. There are also two loungers and four Muskoka chairs for relaxing. The decks offers spectacular views of the bay and are great for catching some sun, socializing, relaxing with your book and/or favourite vacation beverage.
In the rear yard there is a fire pit available for evening campfires,
roasting marshmallows, taking in the starry night sky and sharing
stories with friends and family. On a clear day the night time stargazing
is priceless. Note: The very steep slope from the rear yard to the
water below does not permit direct access to the water.
You will find plenty to see and do in the area. Minet's Point Park is a favourite spot for bird watchers in the spring and fall, the waters of Kempenfelt Bay are a magnet for outdoor water sport enthusiasts including windsurfers, and kite surfers and kayakers, many Provincial Parks are easily accessible, and there are several beachfront parks a short drive away in Barrie and Orillia. The 265-passenger Serendipity Princess paddle-wheeler offers daily sightseeing cruises and Dinner/Entertainment cruises leaving from the Barrie town dock. Major stores, a wide variety of shopping, dining, entertainment, arts & culture events and attractions are available nearby in both Barrie and Orillia.

The cottage is on an embankment and children should not be left unattended.
RENTAL START DATES:
Weekly rentals run from Sunday at 4:30 pm to the following Sunday
at 11:00 am.
3 stars out of 5. There is a cottage 250' to the East and another cottage 150' to the West. There are mature trees offering some screening from the neighbouring cottages.
SHORE LINE: There is a 24' embankment with stairs to get down to the shoreline. The shoreline is mixed rock and sand, large boulders retain the bank as is common on Lake Simcoe.

DOCKING FACILITIES: There is a 24x30 permanent platform at waters edge with a finger dock off the edge. Water levels fluctuate but the average depth is 5 feet at the end of the finger dock. A swim ladder is available for your use but diving is NOT recommended.
