Cottage Profile

This, 1300 square foot, two bedroom, waterfront bungalow is located in Hope Bay on the shores of Georgian Bay. Hope Bay is centrally located on the Bruce Penisula in between the villages of Wiarton and Lion's Head.

All the living area of the cottage is located on one floor. The main living area has the living room on the lake side of the cottage with a large window facing the lake. This living room has a couch, a love seat and two comfortable chairs. A television with satellite and blueray player is also available to keep you entertained on a rainy day. Adjacent to the living room is a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, stove, and microwave.

The cottage has a separate dining room with table that seats all of your party comfortably. There is also a great view here of the bay. There are two bedrooms at the cottage.

One has a queen size bed with a cot and the other a double. Both bedrooms have ample amount of space and nice sized windows allowing natural light to filter through. The newly renovated bathroom features a claw foot bathtub and a separate shower.

There are also laundry facilities provided. On the lakeside of the cottage there is a 150 square foot patio attached to the cottage. There is a table with 6 chairs, 2 Adirondack chairs and a propane BBQ here. The yard is beautifully landscaped with lots of mature trees that provide shade on hot sunny days.

The vegetable and herb garden provides fresh produce to compliment your meals. At the waters edge, a separate deck with a table and bench seating provide a serene area to read a book, write or just simply enjoy your morning coffee and take in the breathtaking view.

During the day, children will enjoy exploring the natural habitat of the “fish nursery” and be able to enjoy seeing frogs, turtles and mudpuppies. There are also ducks, geese and beavers that swim by for your viewing pleasure. At night, dark skies provide a chance to view different constellations, or witness the Perseid Meteor Shower in August.

The naturalized shore has fluctuating water levels from one year to the next. The water gradually goes from shallow to deep. Sandy areas can be located at the north and south end of the property to access good swimming.

There is also a public beach about 500 m. away which is also a great spot for kids to play. Hope Bay is a quiet, family friendly community. The campground store has the basic amenities as well canoe, kayak and paddle boat rentals for your added convenience and enjoyment.

The gravel road that follows the shore around Hope Bay is enjoyed by joggers, walkers and cyclists. Access to the internationally famous Bruce Trail is literally steps from the cottage, so you can walk out the door and hit the trail right away! On top of the Niagara Escarpment there are many amazing views, glacial pot holes, rare ferns, and orchids found only on the Peninsula. Hope Bay’s central location provides easy accessibility to the many attractions of the Bruce Peninsula.
