Nestled between the escarpment and the cobble beach of Dyer's Bay,
this 1200 sq ft 'gingerbread' cottage is built in the old-Ontario
farmhouse style. Beautifully decorated, this 2-bedroom home is the
perfect setting for your holiday, set against the pristine waters
of Georgian Bay.
Inside the cottage you will find a bright, inviting kitchen, dining
area, and living room with hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen
is fully equipped with fridge, gas stove/oven, ample cupboard space
and a bright window over the sink. The breakfast bar with four bar-style
chairs is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee.
Just adjacent to this is the dining area and living room, which
are afforded great views by the large windows and windowed French
doors that look direct out into Dyer's Bay. Enjoy a sit-down meal
at the dining table, with enough seats for all in your party and
watch the waves. Or take a seat on the couch or two comfy chairs
to take in the view, or watch a show or movie on the TV - with built-in DVD player. The gas fireplace in this space will warm
you on a cool summer evening while an area rug adds charm.
There are two bedrooms at this cottage, each with an ensuite bathroom.
The master bedroom offers a queen bed and a four-piece ensuite bathroom
complete with a massage tub. Early sunrises provide a gorgeous view
from the master bedroom which also has French doors entering onto
the large waterfront deck.
The second bedroom has a double bed as well as a single, and its
own two-piece ensuite bathroom.
A washer and dryer provide you with full laundry facilities, for
Outside on the deck you can enjoy the compelling 180 degree waterview
from Cabot Head to Cape Chin. Predominant southwest winds blow offshore
most of the summer months providing you with a comforting breeze.
Relax on a lounger with a good book and catch some sun or take a
nap. There is also a propane
BBQ so you can cook up a tasty feast.
The shoreline consists of a pebble beach with excellent swimming
in some of the cleanest water in Ontario. Water shoes are recommended.
If you are looking for a shady spot, there is a covered roadside
porch at the front of the cottage with a sitting area.
While you're here on holiday, you can explore all that this area
has to offer. For those who like to hike, the Bruce Trail is located 0.5 km away
and provides spectacular opportunities for hiking and exploration.
For cyclists the area also has great road riding along paved roads
or you can follow the spectacular shoreline road (which is gravel)
to Cabot Head Lighthouse. This is a 10 km ride along a road that
is squeezed in between the 150 foot cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment
and the waters of Georgian Bay. For 80% of the road there is no
development on either side.
There is restaurant within walking distance at the Apple Wood Inn
if you'd like to eat out. The communities of Tobermory and Lion's
Head are only a 30 minute drive from the cottage for sightseeing
opportunities, shopping and more.
