Cottage Profile
This beautiful three bedroom waterfront cottage is located on a quiet dead-end
road at the tip of the Bruce, on the dividing line between Georgian
Bay and Lake Huron.
The main living area features a cathedral ceiling which provides a
wonderful openess to the cottage. The two large windows in the livingroom
fill the lower level with natural light and provide a beautiful view
of Lake Huron.
The open concept living room, kitchen/dining area provides a seating
arrangement for six at an antique circular hardwood maple table with
press back chairs. The kitchen area is fully equipped with a fridge,
stove, and microwave. Livingroom furnishings include a stereo with CD
player, a comfortable pull-out couch, as well as two armchairs for relaxing
after a days hike. The wood stove provides added warmth to the cozy
cottage on a cool evening.
There are three bedrooms, two of which are located on the ground
floor. One bedroom on the main floor contains a queen bed, the other
a double. A third bedroom/den is located on the second floor. This
room has a set of bunkbeds, a small couch, and a flatscreen television with
satellite and DVD/VCR player.
Trees surrounding the cottage provide a lovely private setting. There
are three decks on the property. The large wooden deck located on the
west side of the cottage is a perfect place to sit either on the cedar
chairs or at the picnic table and have your wake-up coffee in the morning
sun. The large new lakeside deck sits in the sun by midday and is a
wonderful place to relax, read and eat your meals while watching the
waves roll in. This deck has patio furniture for your relaxation, as
well as a table which seats 6 with a large umbrella for shade. A beautiful
view of Lake Huron and the evening sunsets are a sight to behold from
this deck!
If you wish to have a more secluded place to enjoy your morning or
afternoon beverage, visit the shoreline deck. A unique wooden boardwalk bridge
with a railing leads from the cottage down to the deck and a lovely
shoreline with pools of water and limestone outcroppings. This deck
provides a place where you can relax and watch the swimmers cool down
in the beautiful Lake Huron waters. The lake water is amazingly clear
and snorkeling to the old schooner shipwreck a short distance offshore
is an experience! And, just when you think it can't get any better,
top off the evening by returning back to the lakeside deck for a beautiful
lasting sunset.
Tobermory is short distance away (9 km). You can stroll through the
shops, visit the library, restaurants and see the beautiful natural
harbour. Scenic boat cruises to view shipwrecks and lighthouses are
available daily and a trip to Flowerpot Island is a must for all who
visit! Dinner cruises aboard the Chi-Cheemaun are also very popular
and if that's not to your liking, there are many places to eat in town
where you can watch the beautiful sunsets and converse with friends.
Don't forget to try the ice-cream!
For hikers, naturalists and scuba divers, the area is a dream come
true. Guided tours along the Niagara Escarpment and the shores of Dorcas
Bay on Lake Huron are available a 10-minute drive away. Amphitheater
programs presented at Cyprus Lake by Parks Canada staff are informative
and entertaining for all ages.
