Cottage Profile
All of the comforts of home are available at this two bedroom, 1200
square foot cottage at Balmy Beach on the shores of Georgian Bay.
Please note that the second storey of this cottage is off limits to
the renter as the owner of the cottage lives there.
The main living area is an open concept design with a virtual wall
of windows that provide a panoramic view of Georgian Bay. There is a
leather couch, love seat and airmchair to unwind in while watching the
TV with DVD player or 70 station cable television. On those cooler evenings
you can enjoy the gas fireplace or slip outside through the sliding
glass doors to a deck that overlooks the shoreline.
The dining area is also located in this open space with a table to
seat all 6 people in your party comfortably. Large windows surrounding
the table allow for a scenic place to enjoy your meals.
Adjacent to the dining room is the kitchen which has everything you
need to prepare your holiday feast. The kitchen is complete with fridge,
stove, and microwave. In the kitchen you can enjoy the smaller table
with seating for three for a casual meal or just to keep the cook company!
There are two bedrooms at the cottage. Each room is large with a double
and a single bed with plenty of windows to allow in natural light.
The bathroom at this cottage is a 4 piece with both shower and tub.
In the entry way to the cottage you will find an apartment sized freezer
as well as a washer and dryer. This is an ideal space for additional
storage.
An exceptional feature of this property is the deck and patio.
This area can be accessed from both the living room and dining room.
There are five muskoka chairs here to enjoy the fresh air, a hot
tub to savor after a day of hiking and swimming, as well as access
to 2 small ponds to the side of the cottage. Down about 15 stairs
and closer to the shore you'll find a fire pit with seating for
your family to cook some marshmallows and study the stars.
There is a nice sandy entry into the water, a great place for children
to swim. A 30 foot dock provides ample space for watercraft, and makes
using the 14 foot rowboat and canoe easier.
Fishing charters and scenic cruises are available to guests. The
boat rate is $70 per hour with a minimum charge of $225. Maximum
4 people are permitted, and all fishing equipment is supplied. This
can be arranged with the owner of the cottage upon arrival.
Fishing in the bay is good in the spring and fall, with some mid summer
fishing. Fishermen in this area frequently catch salmon, rainbow, and
lake trout.
The cottage is close to many attractions, it is only a five minute
drive to Owen Sound with it's shopping malls, restaurants, museums and
art galleries.
