A good choice
Reviewed by Laura D on 09/12/2016
I stayed for a week with my husband, teen and parents. This cottage is lovely and spacious, and had a well supplied kitchen. With two bedrooms, a bathroom and living area on the lower level, it is excellent for families who need a separate space. Large master bedroom with it's own bathroom, but could use darker window coverings. The lower deck is great for sitting by the water, though it needs shade. A great location, only 15 minutes to Tobermory. We would have liked a better door up in the living area so to let the beautiful breezes in. Very nice!
Great Location But Too Many Onerous House Rules With Penalties
Reviewed by MauiLizard on 09/08/2015
This was a great location on lake Huron close to Tobermory. However, beware the owners lengthy list of onerous house rules where they may penalize you for a variety of issues/items...you will pay big $$$ if you fail to take out all the garbage, put everything back in its place, or fail to do an extensive cleaning of the property prior to leaving it (they do have a cleaning lady come after you depart so we don't understand why we would have to clean it so extensively - mop all floors, vacuum all rugs, scrub all toilets, sinks, showers, taps, clean the kitchen, wipe out both refrigerators (freezer too), microwave, Bar-B-Q, stove, etc. Please remember that you are paying $2,350 for a week in summer and you're suppose to be on Holiday - not spending a day cleaning the place - they even want you to dust the entire place. Amazing. Not only that, you effectively lose 1 whole day of your vacation because they have a crappy check in time (4:00PM) and crummy check-out time of 10:30AM. Remember to get up at 5:30AM day of departure to commence your cleaning effort of the property prior to complying with your stipulated checkout time of 10:30AM. Oh and remember to launder all the sheets, towels, face cloths, and fold and neatly stack where originally found or fees will apply by the cleaning lady and a $50 Administrative charge. One other thing, the owners ask that you fill the LP Tank if it runs out on your week of usage. So if you use the Bar-B-Q one time and it runs out of propane on your watch, you are expected to spend your valuable vacation time and money running into town filling up the owners tank and effectively subsidizing all the previous renters who used the Bar-B-Q. This is a rediculous request by the owners.

Thank you for your review. We are glad that you liked the location of the cottage. This is one of our most popular properties and the owners are very customer service oriented.
Some of the other information provided in this review is inaccurate and we would like to clarify a few of these items. At the time of booking and prior to confirmation of your booking each renter is informed that they are required to bring their own linens and towels, clean the cottage and remove their garbage prior to leaving. Washing linens and towels at the end of your stay is not necessary however some owners do provide King sized sheets for guests because most people do not have these at home and ask that they be laundered prior to leaving the cottage. If the cottage is kept neat and tidy throughout your stay, this makes your final check out day less onerous. Check in and check out times are posted on the site and are set to accommodate people that check the cottages in between rentals and to ensure that the cottage is at its best for your arrival. There is always a spare barbecue tank at the cottage. The location of the spare tank is provided in your cottage information kit but we do ask that you refill the tank if you have used a large amount and the second tank is close to empty. Often owners will reimburse you for this. All you have to do is call our office and notify us.
If you do not agree with the house rules or terms and conditions of the rental agreement it would be prudent NOT to proceed with your reservation rather than not fulfill your contractual obligations. It is important to remember that this is someone’s private home and that they are sharing it with you. Rentcottage.com believes that keeping the property clean and tidy, removing your personal garbage and leaving it as you found it is the respectful thing to do.
Amazing Family Vacation Spot!
Reviewed by Christine on 07/15/2013
Recently returned from a weeks vacation at Dogwood Point Cottage, it was a wonderful vacation. The home was open and spacious for our family of 7 to stretch out in. I absolutely loved the master bedroom suite, especially the view from the large windows and easy access to the huge deck...great place for that quiet moment to enjoy a cup of tea each morning or relax in the evening. I brought kids ranging from 7yrs old to 20...and there was something for every age group to enjoy...they loved the games room and the kayaks..the water in front of the cottage was shallow entry so perfect for even the youngest to play in without worry. Great firepit right by the lake was enjoyed by us all...lots of smores :)
The cottage is very private, which I enjoyed...yet it was only a 10 min drive into Tobermory if we wanted to browse the shops, just a few minutes from a warm sandy beach (Singing Sands) and only a 10 min drive to get to the many trails to hike. Would definitely rent this cottage again !

We just adored our stay at Dogwood Point Cottage!
With such beautiful gardens & surrounds, comfortable & spacious areas to relax both indoors and out, we couldn't have been happier with our choice.
Having access to kayaks and the games room, meant that between hikes and sunbathing, there was always something to keep us entertained and we even managed to get wi-fi on the deck by the lake.
The fire pit was fantastic for nights roasting marshmallows and the bbq was our best friend!
Tobermory itself was such a lovely town too, with the Foodmart stocking all our needs, but make sure you get to Lcbo way before they close or you'll be dining without booze!
Singing Sands and Indian Head Cove are musts when you're in the area and we had a lovely dinner out at the Crowsnest Pub too.
We only wish we were still there!!!
We highly recommend this property to any groups or families looking to explore the Bruce Peninsula or just relax by the lake.
You'll feel completely at home.

Very good cottage, can't expect more. Had great experience with it, nice and comfortable. The view is fantastic, and the water is so clean. The little sheltered bay is great for children to try on kayaking. Wonderful place to enjoy the nature while not far from all the convenience you may need.

This was our 2nd time staying at this cottage. It is spacious , comfortable and private and perfect for families with older kids, teens who need " space " . The water is the biggest draw- for swimming kayaking and wave watching. The location (close to Tobermory town for getting supplies and to assess to the Georgian Bay side of the pennisula ) is excellent as well

We enjoyed our holidays at Dogwood Point. The house is very spacious. The down sides are the humide basement, and the long way to the next sandy beach. However, if one does not have small children and does not mind to have some waves while swimming, there is nothing to complain about the stony beach just in front of the cottage.

We had a fabulous time at the "Dogwood Point Cottage". The scenery/environment was spectacular and the cottage (home) could not have been any nicer. The home and grounds were very clean and the proximity to the water was truly special. We have recommended to our family and friends and will undoubtedly stay there again in the future. Thanks for a wonderful, memory filled vacation.

We had excellent service. All the comforts of home and more.We liked the home very much. It was very private but a better view of the lake would have been appreciated, maybe cut off a few of the trees. We liked the town of tobermory. The least of things we didn't like is the available lakes to fish in.

We enjoyed our week at this cottage with our 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. The children enjoyed playing by the water, climbing on the rocks, playing on the deck, dressing up in the dress-up clothes, and keeping a close eye on the frog pond. The shore is very rocky so it is not easy to wade in even with beach shoes. Singing Sands is not too far away and we enjoyed beach time there. The cottage is well equipped, spacious and comfortable with 2 decks for enjoying the view of Lake Huron.
