Hop, skip and a jump to a beautiful sandy beach!
‘DoorianGray’ is located north of Wasaga Beach and
close to Balm Beach, and is an all-season rental property close
to skiing at Blue Mountain.
This 1200 sq ft, 3 bedroom home, sleeps up to 6 people on one
level. It is located in relaxing Simcoe County, about 2 hours
north of Toronto.
Nestled in the pines, it's a short 350m walk to nearby Lafontaine
Beach or relax on the spacious deck.
The Owners have indulged in a unique door collection visible throughout
and around the grounds.
The cottage itself is interesting and has been featured in several
newspaper and magazine publications including: Toronto Star, Retreats
Magazine, Simcoe Life, Free Press Newspaper. It is designed with
a French Country motif with a medieval castle feel and the ever
present ‘DoorianGray’ monograms throughout (the portrait
is locked up in the basement!)
The compact kitchen area has dark wood cabinets and is equipped
with fridge, stove/oven, and sink. A window over the sink looks
eastward to the backyard. Counter space is minimal for meal preparation.
Dine at a natural wood table sitting on wooden bench pews. Or
take your meals outside under the pines in the nice weather to
eat at the wooden laminated table (a salvaged piece of an old
bowling alley!) Again, with church pews for seating.
The living room is bathed in light from the westward facing wall
of floor to ceiling windows. A curvey sofa tucked into the corner
is romantic and also allows functional seating focused both on
the corner TV with satellite television or the large central field
stone fireplace (not for use in the summer).
There are 3 bedrooms all on one floor. Bedroom 1, has a large
queen ‘sleigh’ bed. Bedroom 2 has a double bed with
wooden church altar headboard. Both Bedroom 1 and 2 have whitewashed
walls. Bedroom 3 has a queen bed with a faux stone wall. Rich
warm, reddish cherry laminate flooring is found throughout the
A small 3-piece bathroom features a romantic clawfoot bathtub
and fixtures (a 360 degree shower curtain allows for careful showers).
Walk down the street and on to the communal path through the tall
pines to the lake to where you’ll find a gorgeous wide sandy
Sunsets are fabulous with long panoramic views of the Blue Mountains
over beautiful Nottawasaga Bay!
In the evenings, gather around the firepit and roast marshmallows
under the pine trees. A single children’s rope swing is
there too. Alternately, there is a communal firepit down at the
A pond and watchful Budda are a feature (but unfortunately the
pump is broken).
Being in a serviced subdivision, it has municipal
treated water supply.
Note: Mobility challenged visitors may find the short, winding
walk up the pathway to the cottage from the 2 car gravel driveway
troublesome - especially at night.
All this is found only 20km from town, in what seems,
a world away from the everyday.
If you can tear yourself away, take a day trip to Penetanguishene
or Midland to the historic Martyr's Shrine. You are also 14km
from the gates of beautiful, natural Awenda Provincial Park.
