This is a charming, old time cottage set within a shady cedar clearing
and one row back (150m) from a beautiful sand beach. The beach is
reachable down a set of stairs set into the treed beach bluff.
The access path is across and down a deeded access. While the beach is not private, this results in your beach experience being an exceedingly private one. The beach is composed of wonderful sand and small pebbles (which
vary with the seasons storms and winters impact). The beach faces
west and has great sunsets. It is a great place to wander along
the shore, exploring and collecting whatever or just sit and contemplate
life! You may want to encourage children to wear water shoes. Also,
there are rocks in the water as you are walking out. While they
are great to sit on, they do pose a risk for stubbing a toe or knee
The cottage has a wonderful nostalgic feel to it! Sit on the open
porch and enjoy the gentle hiss of a summer rain or use it to stay
cool on a scorching summers day. Either way, the two white wicker
chairs and love seat provide comfort and the owner has even thought
of a small refreshment fridge too!
The kitchen is comprised of a fridge, stove, coffee maker and more, as well as a table with seating for 5.
The living room is carpeted and has two sofas situated in front of the 40" flatscreen TV. On a rainy day, satellite via StarChoice gives you a wide selection of TV stations or the living room rug is perfect for spreading out and playing one of the many board games. Walk out the front door to a second low deck with 4 colourful Muskoka chairs.
There are three bedrooms all accessed off the living room. The first bedroom has a beautiful queen bed and side tables, while the second room (in powder blue) is accessed via a short hallway, has a cool airy feel and a
queen bed. The third bedroom (in blue), contains a single bed (but note: there is also a large furnace in this room). Reading lamps in each of the rooms allow any
summer reading you may wish to complete.
The 4-piece bathroom is small but works for the cottage.
At night, there's a third deck out back and 4 more colourful chairs
to gather around the campfire for marshmallows.
The cottage lane is gravel and extends from the main paved road. The children should bring their bikes, as the quiet gravel road is ideal to learn on and explore.
The cottage is only 3.2 kilometers (2 miles) from downtown Kincardine, making it an ideal location for day trips into town.
In downtown Kincardine
you will find lots of boutiques and restaurants
(Tramonto, Hawgs Breath, Erie Belle for fish and chips), Kincardine
harbour and the town's major landmark "The Lighthouse".
Also, you won't want to miss the Geddes Environmental Park 4km away
at the marina.
Kincardine has a lot of old time charm with its large colonial stone
houses, vibrant downtown and Saturday night Pipe Band parades. Kincardine's
motto is: "Kincardine - where you are a stranger only once."
