The nicely appointed Beaver Valley cottage chalet is located in southern Ontario's recreational heartland. The Beaver Valley is part of the Niagara Escarpment, is particularly scenic and is designated by UNESCO as a World Biosphere.
The 5 bedroom 2600 square foot cottage is fully equipped and tastefully furnished with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
When you arrive there is a convenient, level gravel surfaced parking area that is also large. You enter the cottage chalet on the lower level where there is a tile floor entrance foyer with plenty of room for shoes, jackets, etc. On this level there is a cozy family room with a sectional couch and relaxing chaise section, coffee table and satellite TV with DVD Player - great for keeping the kids occupied on a rainy day.
There are also three bedrooms and a bathroom on this level with a queen bed in two of the bedrooms and double bed in the other. There is also a three-piece bathroom with sink, toilet and tub/shower. For your convenience there is a washer and dryer for your laundry needs during your stay.
From the dining room take the door to the rear deck where there are two relaxing deck chairs, a love seat and a table that is perfect for taking advantage of the view, catching some sun, relaxing with a book and/or favourite summer beverage. There is also a propane BBQ for your outdoor grilling. The deck makes a perfect gathering spot for the cooks. Also included is an enclosed screened in canopy.
Take the stairs up to the main level where you will be welcomed by a spacious open living, dining and kitchen area with high vaulted ceiling, plenty of large bright windows providing an excellent view of the woodlands surrounding the cottage chalet, exposed wooden post and beams, beautiful pine floors and a view to the loft bedroom above. The large open concept allows for easy conversation between those in the living room, dining room, or kitchen.
The living room area features comfortable furniture to unwind in and includes two full sized couches, a chair, ottoman, 42" satellite TV and impressive stone fireplace - a great spot for a relaxing morning coffee, afternoon conversations, or enjoying an evening movie with your family. For meals there are plenty of seating options. The large dining room seats ten people at the pine harvest table. There is also another smaller dining table with 6 chairs and the kitchen island with 3 chairs. At the front is a small reading area.
The modern kitchen with island is well equipped with dishes, cutlery, fridge, stove, oven, microwave, blender and dishwasher to satisfy your culinary needs and make meal preparation a pleasure. On the main level there is also one bedroom with a queen bed and a three-piece bathroom with sink, toilet and tub/shower. The bedroom has its own door for direct access to this bathroom.
Take the open staircase to the loft bedroom that looks out over the two-storey living and dining area and the woodland view beyond. In the loft bedroom there are 3 double beds and a leather couch.
Outside of the cottage is a large lawn - a great place for kids to play. Be sure to bring your outdoor yard games, the generally level rear yard will be perfect. At the back of the rear yard is a firepit with four chairs and a bench that is available for evening campfires, and is a great place to take in the starry night sky.
A short drive away are the quaint villages of Eugenia, Kimberly, Flesherton and Markdale where you can pick up fresh groceries, beer/wine, ice cream and old fashioned treats. For the foodies be sure to check out the Flying Chestnut (Eugenia) or the Flying Spatula (Flesherton) and the many Collingwood and Thornbury restaurants.
The Beaver Valley area provides great year-round activities. Enjoy opportunities for skiing, golfing, hiking, jogging, cycling, canoeing, antiquing, and visiting art galleries, artisan studios and quaint villages. Bring your fat tires for the country gravel roads, single-track trail riding at the nearby Three Stage Trails (Pretty River Valley Provincial Park), Kolopore Uplands, and Loree Forest. Bring your skinny tires for some of the best road riding in Ontario. Train for or participate in the challenging Blue Mountain Centurion cycling event. Hike the Bruce Trail for some of the finest hiking in Ontario.
Golf at any of the many other area golf courses. If you are into adventure visit Scenic Caves and take part in the Eco Adventure Tour to try the zip line cable or cross the suspension bridge. Enjoy a relaxing visit to a Scandinavian spa. In the winter season there is superb alpine and X-country skiing nearby.
Just 40 minutes away are all the amenities of Historic Downtown Collingwood and the Village at Blue Mountain Resort for a wide array of shopping, dining, entertainment, arts & culture events and attractions.
