This 5 bedroom, 2,000 square foot year-round waterfront cottage is located a short drive from Midland and Penetanguishene. It features a large private sand beach and spectacular views over the sparkling waters of Georgian Bay. The Midland/ Penetanguishene area is located only 90 minutes north of Toronto.
The stairs from the deck lead to a wide pathway to a lovely, large sand beach.
The sand beach reaches right to the deck stairs. The beach is a great
spot any time of day and here there are four chairs and a firepit
available for evening campfires, taking in the starry night sky, roasting
marshmallows and telling stories at the end of the day.
Inside the front entrance there is a large tile floor entrance foyer and a bright, well-equipped kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with all the dishes, utensils, serving plates, pots and pans you will need during your stay and includes fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, oven, toaster, kettle, and coffee maker. From the kitchen you can access the formal dining room that comfortably seats eight people, or the enclosed sunroom with plenty of large windows providing great views of the beach and the bay. In the sunroom there is a dining table with six chairs (plus a highchair for the young one) that provides a casual dining option for you with direct access to the large rear deck. There is also a wicker love seat, two chairs and coffee table that make a perfect spot for reading or relaxing with your morning coffee.
From the kitchen you have easy access to the laundry room where there is a washer and dryer to take care of any laundry needs.
A short hallway from the kitchen leads to the welcoming and spacious living room with its spectacular pine-paneled cathedral ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows, two televisions, and hardwood floors. With two couches, two loveseats and a rocker you will have plenty of comfortable seating options. You can relax in the living room with a good book or enjoy the company of those in your group while you take advantage of the natural light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The hallway from the living room leads to the bathroom and three of the bedrooms. The bathroom is a four-piece with sink, toilet, and a combination tub/shower. There is a king bed in one of the bedrooms with a single bed too, while the second bedroom offers a queen bed and the third bedroom provides a queen and a single.
From the hallway that connects the kitchen and living room there is a stairway to the lower level of the cottage. On the lower level there is play area with an area rug, television, and couches that can comfortably seat everyone in your group. There are also two more bedrooms here - one with a king bed and one with a queen bed.
Across the entire back of the cottage is a large elevated deck with a spectacular view of the sand beach and bay. On the deck there is a wicker loveseat, and a table set with two chairs that's perfect for enjoying a cup of tea and catching up with your family members. The rear deck is a great spot for taking advantage of the bay view, watching passing sailboats, socializing, and relaxing with your favourite summer beverage. There is also a propane BBQ for grilling up some BBQ feasts.
The shoreline is a mix of sand and stone (water shoes are recommended).
The water depth increases gradually for swimming or just splashing
around. This would also make a great spot to launch your canoe or
kayak if you have yours (Note: the owner's boat will be at the cottage
but it is not for renters' use). At the shore there is a dock where
you can catch some rays and relax with a good book and a great view.
If you prefer, swim to the floating raft.
The cottage is close to many attractions and is only 20 minutes from downtown Penetanguishene and less than 10 minutes to Awenda Provincial Park where you will find several beautiful and natural beaches on the Georgian Bay shoreline, hiking and biking trails, and relaxing picnicking opportunities.
The Midland/ Penetanguishene area is located on the southeast shore
of Georgian Bay with plenty of shopping, dining, and sightseeing
opportunities. Golf at one of several of the local golf courses,
experience the 30,000 Islands with a trip on the Miss Midland or
the Georgian Queen - both with sightseeing and dinner cruises available.
Visit some of the many historically significant and interesting
sites: the Martyr's Shrine, Ste Marie-Among-the-Hurons (a restored
native village), Discovery Harbour (a 19th century British military
base with Tall Ships), King's Warf Theatre to take in a live play,
Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre (great fun for kids), and the Tay and
Tiny hiking and biking trails.
