Waterfront, 1700 square foot 3 bedroom cottage elevated above the
shores of Georgian Bay at Big Bay, just outside of the town of Wiarton.
Take in the views of Griffith Island and White Cloud Island out
in the bay, while you relax at the cottage on your holiday.
The driveway is just off the road, and from there is a small staircase to the cottage door. The cottage sits 10 feet lower than the main road, on the embankment, and this along with trees on either side of the cottage provide you with privacy.
Enter through the rear of the cottage and to the right you'll find the kitchen and dining space. The kitchen offers a fridge, stove/oven, microwave and more for your meal preparation, while a dining table with seating for six is situated by bright windows that look out to the deck and the bay. Opposite the kitchen entryway is a four-piece bathroom with tub/shower combination.
Just off the dining space is the 'great room', with its vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that give you a spectacular view of Big Bay. The leather couch and two large chairs here give you a spot to lounge while enjoying the view, or while you read a book with the natural light streaming in. Just off of the living room is another bathroom - a four-piece with a soaker tub and separate shower.
Up the staircase you will find the loft with an oversized comfy chair and an additional chair and ottoman so you can lounge while watching the movies that you've brought along for the 50" TV with DVD player. The master bedroom is located up on the loft, and it offers a queen size bed and a three-piece ensuite bathroom.
The other two bedrooms are located on the main floor - one has a double bed while the other provides a set of single bunkbeds.
Down a flight of stairs from the great room will bring you to the basement rec room. A pool table and comfortable seating await, so you can challenge your family to a game of pool. There are patio doors here that give you access to the outdoors, and to the staircase down to the shore.
The cottage sits 50 feet above the water and stairs lead from the cottage to the shoreline below. The shoreline is a mix of stone and silt. Swim shoes are recommended. Entry into the water is gradual, but a shoal keeps the water depth at about 2 feet for approximately 150 feet out. Deeper water is beyond that for better swimming.
Watch the sun rise over the bay if you're a morning person, or gather around the outdoor fire pit for a campfire in the evening - the fire pit is in back of the cottage, overlooking the water.
The cottage deck is a great spot to lounge in the sun or shade, and you can take a seat at the patio table with your family to enjoy a meal that you've cooked on the propane BBQ.
The cottage is just a short 15-20 minute drive outside the town of Wiarton, where you'll find local shops, restaurants, a grocery store and more. A great idea for day trips while you're on holiday is to check out Sauble, Lion's Head and Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula where fun awaits!
