Cottage Profile

“THE COTTAGE”

Only 90 minutes from downtown Toronto and virtually on the water - this cottage is just a short walk across the road to a private park and sandy beach on the shore of beautiful Lake Couchiching. You can see the water from your front deck. Lake Couchiching is part of the historic Trent-Severn Waterway offering miles of fabulous boating between Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay.

This comfortable 1400 sq ft, 3 bedroom, one bathroom cottage is a great family get-a-away choice.

When you arrive at the cottage you will find plenty of space to park your vehicle in the long double wide driveway and also have room for your boat and trailer if you have one. There is a public boat launch not much more than 0.5 km down the road.

The front entrance to the cottage is conveniently located close to the driveway and offers plenty of storage area for your holiday gear. Inside the cottage you will find a bright, open plan kitchen, dining, sitting and family rooms. The kitchen has a window over the sink and many of the amenities of home including fridge, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and more.

The dining table comfortably seats six. In the large sitting room there are four comfy chairs and a picture window that looks out to the front yard and Lake Couchiching. The picture window has side windows that open to let in the breeze. The sitting room also makes a great indoor play area for small children.

Next to the sitting room is the family room that features an impressive full-wall stone fireplace, a full size L-shaped couch for relaxing, and a sliding patio door leading to the front deck. The cottage has three bedrooms. All three beds are double in size. Each has a window to let in the breeze and two have ceiling fans. The bathroom is a four-piece with sink, toilet and a tub/shower. There is also a washer and dryer for your convenience.


The front deck is the perfect place to enjoy the fresh air and a morning coffee, bask in the sun or for star gazing at night. After you have grilled your favourite vacation meals using the propane BBQ, sit down to a family dinner at the outdoor patio set with table, umbrella, and six chairs. The front deck has a view of the lake and is a great spot to read, socialize, and relax with your favourite vacation beverage. The spacious front and rear yards are level with lots of room for outdoor games.

From the cottage to Bayou Park, it’s just a short 40 m (130 ft) walk across the road (the total distance from the cottage to the shoreline is 107 m (350 ft). Bayou Park is a private waterfront park on Lake Couchiching for use by residents of the area and guests only. The Park has a small sandy beach area with gradual entry into the water making it ideal for families and children, plenty of grassed lawn for playing, mature trees for shade, a horseshoe pit, and campfire area where you can roast marshmallows in the evening and share stories. Around the block there is children’s play equipment in Shadow Creek Park (0.4 km walk / 0.85 km drive).

If you do want to get out and explore the Muskoka and Simcoe region, the Towns of Orillia, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Barrie are all within an easy drive. Orillia (less than 15 minutes away) boasts such attractions as the Stephen Leacock Museum, the Orillia Opera House, the sandy beach at Couchiching Park and the Port of Orillia and its marina, host to many special events throughout the year. Shop the boutiques on the main street, take a cruise on the Island Princess, dine out at several fine restaurants or grab a quick bite at one of the many family restaurants. Santa’s Village Family Entertainment Park in Bracebridge is a great place to spend time with family & friends of all ages. In Gravenhurst, home of The Muskoka Wharf (restaurants, special events) steamships “Seguin” and “Wenonah” offer day, lunch, dinner and evening cruises on Lake Muskoka throughout the summer and fall. You can play a round of golf at one of the many nearby courses. Casino Rama a few minutes away offers games of chance and top rated nightly entertainment and dining. You are close to some of the best golf courses and ski hills in Central Ontario.
