This waterfront cottage is located on beautiful Lake Simcoe at prestigious Big Bay Point, a short drive from downtown Barrie and just 45 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The Lake Simcoe region is a favourite year-round holiday destination with many area events and attractions.
The cottage sits at the mouth of Lake Simcoe and Kempenfelt Bay
in one of the quietest areas along Lake Simcoe. You are about 15
minutes by car to restaurants and shopping in Barrie and it’s
also only a 15 minute boat ride from the cottage to Downtown Barrie.
Close to everything yet still far enough away to enjoy the peace
The two storey, 2500 square foot cottage with 145 feet of private
waterfront offers spectacular views overlooking the sparkling waters
of Lake Simcoe and Kempenfelt Bay. On a clear evening the stargazing
is priceless and the morning sunrises are some of the nicest in
Ontario. This is a great choice for families or small groups looking
for a comfortable and relaxing vacation.
On the main level of the cottage there is an open concept living and dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the upper level there are three bedrooms, a large loft style sleeping area and one bathroom.
You enter the cottage on the main level where you will be welcomed by a spacious open living room area with a wood-burning stone fireplace, comfortable sectional sofa, chairs and small table that provide plenty of seating options, 42” cable TV, DVD, radio plus a wall of large bright picture windows allowing you to appreciate the stunning lake view.
There is a door from the living area that provides access to the
front yard. The large picture windows continue on through to the
dining area. The dining table comfortably seats 8 people and with
addition of the small table and chairs from the living room a total
of 10 people can be easily seated. There is a patio door from the
dining room that provides you with easy access to the 350 square
foot side deck and spacious side yard.
Next to the dining area is a clean, well equipped kitchen with everything you need for your vacation meals. Cook simple fare to gourmet in the bright modern kitchen that includes a fridge/freezer, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee pot, kettle, water cooler and plenty of cooking utensils and cookware to satisfy your culinary needs.
On the main level there is also a large master bedroom with a great lake view, king size bed, TV and ensuite bathroom (sink, toilet, jacuzzi tub/shower).
There is also a second bedroom with a queen bed, a 3 piece (sink, toilet, shower) bathroom and a laundry room with washer and dryer for your laundry needs during your stay.
Upstairs there is a 4 piece bathroom (double sink vanity, toilet, tub/shower), three bedrooms and a large open loft style sleeping area. One of the bedrooms has two double beds and the second has one double. The third bedroom has a king bed. There are two sets of bunk beds in the large open sleeping area. The kids will love having their own sleeping area.
Outside the elevated side deck gives a great vantage point as you
gaze out across the water and enjoy the fresh air. The deck is a
perfect spot to socialize, catch up with family and friends, or
relax with your favourite vacation beverage. There are plenty of
outdoor chairs and lounges for relaxing.
The early birds in your group can enjoy a quiet morning coffee.
There is a gas BBQ and a charcoal BBQ for grilling up some great
feasts. The spacious side yard is level with lots of room for outdoor
games. It’s just a short stroll to the water. There is 145
feet of private lake front with a 20 foot dock and a sandy walk-in
beach area. The shore has sandy and stone sections. The water depth
increases gradually to about 5 feet at the end of the dock. (Young
children always need to be supervised near water). The dock is the
ideal spot to catch some rays, relax in the Muskoka chairs with
a good book and take in a great panorama view of the lake.
If you prefer take a dip in the lake, or bring your fishing gear and try your hand at fishing from the dock. There is a fire pit where you can enjoy evening campfires, roasting marshmallows, taking in the starry night sky and sharing stories with friends and family.
Whether your vacation style is to be active or relaxed, sporty or
artsy, or a combination of each you will find plenty to see and
do in the area. Minet's Point Park is a favourite spot for bird
watchers in the spring and fall. The waters of Kempenfelt Bay are
a magnet for outdoor water sport enthusiasts including windsurfers,
and kite surfers and kayakers, many Provincial Parks are easily
accessible, and there are several beachfront parks a short drive
away in Barrie and Orillia. The 265-passenger Serendipity Princess
paddle-wheeler offers daily sightseeing cruises and Dinner/Entertainment
cruises leaving from the Barrie town dock. Major stores, a wide
variety of shopping, dining, entertainment, arts & culture events
and attractions are available nearby in both Barrie and Orillia.
