Stonesthrow Cottage is located near the small historic town of Southampton which is situated at the mouth of the Saugeen River on Lake Huron. Famous for it's fabulous sunsets and beaches Southampton is fast becoming a destination spot for vacationers that want a more relaxing cottage experience. Stonesthrow cottage is just a two minute walk from the public beach where people gather to watch the sunset.
Stonesthrow is a 3 bedroom bungalow with a lovely landscaped yard for
your children to enjoy. The cottage has a carport with a large patio where
you can choose to enjoy the sun or sit in the shelter of the carport and
enjoy a warm summer's rain. Relax around a fire at night at the outdoor
fireplace and reminisce about the favourite events of your family's day.
The large open kitchen is cheery and warm with wood ceiling and flooring. A glass block wall lets in light. The central island doubles as food prep area and pub style dining table. There is also a comfy sitting area with couch (pullout) and chair where family or friends can sit and relax with a glass of wine while you prepare meals and visit. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances including dishwasher and microwave. There is also an air conditioning unit in the kitchen if the day gets too hot.
There is a more formal dining area located just off of the kitchen and adjoining the living room. The living room has comfortable seating and a 27" TV with cable that offers 60 channels. There is also another sitting area next to the living room with a stand alone gas fireplace that provides warmth and atmosphere on those cooler nights in the off season.
There are three bedrooms in this cottage. Bedroom one is furnished with a queen bed. . Bedroom 2 is also furnished with a queen sized bed and has plenty of closet space and a dresser. Bedroom 3 is a sitting area the owners have converted into a cozy bedroom with a set of bunkbeds and perfect for the kids to enjoy their own bed but still visit and talk about the events of their day.(please note a portable screen makes the 4th wall of this room).
The 3 piece bath is spacious with a glassed in shower, pedestal sink and toilet and laundry facilities are also available in this cottage for your convenience.
Southampton is an historical port and home to the Bruce County Museum
that offers family programming throughout the summer months. Every Friday
night you can hear the sound of a bagpipe as the sun sets. The Saugeen
River is a popular canoeing and kayaking destination. For people who love
to bike the railway trail is close by.

Weekly rentals run from Saturday at 4:30 pm to the following Saturday
at 11:00 am.
Three stars out of Five. There are neighbouring cottages on
all sides. Mature cedars along the East, South and West perimiter
of the property offer privacy in the back yard.
This is not a waterfront cottage. There is a public beach approx. 800' down from the cottage via a public access. The beach is a mix of rock and sand.
