This lovely “cottage classic” cottage has been in the family, off and on, for the last 70 years. The owner’s great uncle built it and at one time the whole bay was family owned with extended family in separate cottages. This cottage was sold a couple of times in between then and now, but with strong family roots and memories, the desire to bring it back into the family fold was inevitable and one can see why immediately upon arrival!
This beautifully maintained, 1,200 sq. ft., 2 level, 3 bedroom cottage is located on an acre of land, in a fabulous calm bay on tranquil Gull Lake. The interior is warm and inviting with wood floors, wood walls and wood beamed cathedral ceilings in the open concept living/dining/kitchen area, comfortable furnishings and an abundance of windows allowing for soft natural lighting throughout the day. Enjoy stunning wide-open lake views while preparing meals, dining or relaxing by the fireplace.
Two bedrooms on the main floor and a spacious master bedroom is on the upper level and faces out to the lake.
With a southwest exposure, enjoy sun from early morning until sunset. Start your mornings off peacefully, cup of coffee in hand, on the expansive deck then laze away the day soaking up sun on the long dock or sitting in the shade on the waterfront deck while still keeping an eye on the kids as they splash and play on the wonderful and safe hard packed sun beach. The water is quite shallow until the end of the dock, where it is 4 feet deep, making it a great water playground for both young and old alike. With an abundance of choices to get out onto the water with, take the paddleboat, rowboat, canoe or kayak out and spend hours exploring the lake.
For a change of pace and scenery, visit the Wolf Centre in the Haliburton Forest, or watch the kayakers attack the white water rapids at Minden Wild Water Preserve, or indulge in the best ice cream ever at Kawartha Dairy on Highway 35 in Minden.
But nothing will beat roasting marshmallows back at the cottage around an enlcosed firepit on the patio, watching the amazing sunsets and sharing the day’s adventures as the sky fills with stars!Just a short drive away you can enjoy great shopping, dining and boating. The outdoors enthusiast will love exploring the nearby Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve, Wolf Centre and Skyline Park for hiking, biking or whitewater paddling at Minden Whitewater Preserve. When the day is done head back to this cozy lakehouse for a BBQ dinner by the fire pit before planning tomorrow's adventures!
