Welcome to this cozy 1,000 sq. ft., two-bedroom cottage on beautiful Mountain Lake in popular Haliburton County! The owners have been visiting this lake since childhood and were thrilled when the opportunity arose to purchase their own cottage here.
The cottage-classic interior has warm cedar walls and vaulted cedar ceilings throughout, with fabulous views of the lake from almost every room in the cottage – living room, Muskoka/dining room, kitchen and master bedroom. Having the living room open up to the Muskoka room creates separate spacious places for people to spread out and relax, while keeping the main living space open-concept.
As warm and inviting as the interior of the cottage is, it is the great outdoors that beckons for your hours of leisure! This part of Mountain Lake has its own particular magic with the opposite shore being entirely undeveloped, rising from the water into the tall, rocky ridge that gives the lake its name. On a calm morning after a rain, you can hear the distinct sounds of the waterfall cascading down the mountain. In the evening, you might be lucky enough to hear owls call from across the water - the echoes are epic. For early risers, sunrises over the “mountain” are hushed and stunning. The lake is often mirror still until the sun is above the mountain, ideal for an early morning kayak or canoe to explore the wild far shore, giving you a feeling of being away from it all even though it is a short paddle from the safety of the cottage.
The 100 feet of waterfrontage is a toddlers paradise with a shallow entry and just enough sand to build anything you can imagine, or catch minnows in the shallows - all while being shaded all day long by large trees along the shore. For the older kids, the land drops away about 20 metres from the shore, perfect for hours of leaping from the swim raft. For a change of pace, the cottage is within 15-20 minutes of some of the most beautiful hikes in the region, notably the Circuit of Five Viewpoints and the Crests of Kennisis, known for their breathtaking views of woods and waters.
However you spend your days, the owner's sincerely hope that you will use your time away from the hustle and bustle of the city, creating your own fond memories of family fun, connection and relaxation!Just a short drive away you can enjoy great shopping, dining and boating. The outdoors enthusiast will love exploring the nearby Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve, Wolf Centre and Skyline Park for hiking, biking or whitewater paddling at Minden Whitewater Preserve. When the day is done head back to this cozy lakehouse for a BBQ dinner by the fire pit before planning tomorrow's adventures!
The Kawarthas are home to an eclectic group of towns rich with Canadian history. The quaint town of Kinmount can be found 20 minutes from the cottage with local artisans and the amazing Highland Cinema- a blast from the past! Bobcaygeon is also nearby with Ontario's largest selection of elegant home décor shops, unique gift shops and local vendors. The town's farmers market take place every Saturday starting at 8am! Rent or bring your bikes and explore the Kawartha Trans Canada Trail with stunning views and trestle bridges!
