This charming rustic cottage, built in the 1950s, is full of character and has all the traditional features you would expect from a classic lake home. Nestled between Dorset and Haliburton, this lakeside retreat is the perfect place for those seeking peace and tranquility. The view from this property will take your breath away! With its original stone work and height overlooking the lake, it's easy to see why this home is so special. Imagine relaxing on the deck with a morning cup of coffee or sipping an evening glass of wine as you watch the sun set over Little Hawk Lake – magical!
Inside you'll find three cozy bedrooms and one bathroom; just enough space for family gatherings or weekend getaways. Step back in time with this delightful cottage that provides all you need to make some amazing memories. With limited modernization, disconnect to reconnect as you browse through history. The original owners and current owners have a prestine copy of every Cottage Life magazine ever printed for some early morning reading. Enjoy basking in the sun down at the dock or from the glass sunroom. There is a natural trail system around the property for those wanting to explore or forage for local mushrooms.
When the heat calls you to the lake, take the easy way by sliding down the slide into the refreshing waters. In a small cove, enjoy peaceful waters as you boat watch from the dock. Try your hand at sailing with one of the two sail boats at your disposal from the dock. A must do while you are at this cottage is boating over to Big Hawk Lake and taking in the beautifully intricate totem pole separating the two bodies of water. For nights when the chef is off, head over to the marina where a restaurant serving local dishes is ready to welcome you!When not relaxing at the cottage, there are a multitude of great spots to explore in the surrounding area. Check out Buttermilk Falls and the historic log chute! Try your hand at disc golf at the Abbey Gardens along with great local food! Just south on Highway 35 is small batch brewery, Boshkung Brewing Co. has local fare and great tasting beer. Kawartha Dairy Minden is just 10 minutes south - to many cottagers and summer visitors stopping for an ice cream cone at this nostalgic location is an essential part of summer. Just 30 km north on Highway 35 to the quaint village of Dorset you will find the historic Robinsons General Store and the Dorset Look Out with breathtaking 360 degree views from the observation deck of this historic tower that stands 465 feet above Lake of Bays. Sail across the smooth waters of beautiful Lake of Bays aboard the historical SS Bigwin, offering one-hour public cruises in June through to October or launch your boat for big lake boating. East of the cottage visit the beautiful town of Haliburton with many events offered throughout the year with local favourites like the Haliburton Highlands Brewing Co.
