There is something just so majestic about Georgian Bay and its natural raw beauty! No matter where a cottage is on the shores of this vast expanse of water, you are drawn into the tranquil grandness of its presence and this property and cottage compliment it magnificently!
Welcome to this fabulous 2,900 sq. ft., 3 level, 7 bedroom cottage, nestled on one acre of land, tucked in off of a main channel on beautiful Georgian Bay. The current owners recently bought this wonderful property (fall of 2024) and are excited to be new hosts to the clients of Cottage Vacations. This magnificant cottage was built in the 1950's and the interior is a wonderful combination of old and new, keeping original rich wood floors and walls throughout, along with cottage decor accents, while renovating and adding updated light fixtures, installing a kitchen island, granite laminate kitchen counters and stainless steel kitchen appliances. The feel is actually more modern than rustic but there is a definitely unique blend of both in this home and of course a theme of Georgian Bay sprinkled throughout.
The cottage offers 2 completely separate, self-sufficient living spaces, each with their own entrance, comfortably accommodating a large family or 2 small families. The interior of both levels is impeccably maintained and tastefully decorated, with the main level having 3 bedrooms and a lake facing open concept kitchen/dining/living room with a direct walkout to the deck, while the lower ground level has a spacious flow connecting the bedrooms, family room and kitchenette with its own side door walkout to the expansive lawn and waterfront. The upper level is a couple's haven consisting of only a spacious master bedroom with a 3-piece spa-like ensuite bathroom and a direct walk-out to a small private balcony, the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffees while taking in the spectacular lake views. Recent upgrades from the new owners include a new pots, pans, cutlery and kitchen ware, two Bluetooth speakers in the living room, a 48 inch OLED tv in the downstairs common area, a Peloton bike with guest account set up for use as if you were a paid Peloton subscriber, a foosball table, and two new Weber grills on the main deck: one standard 3 burner propane bbq and one Teppanyaki specific slate grill for morning pancakes or Hibachi evenings.
The waterfront at the property has so much to offer to both young and old alike. The views in every direction are simply stunning. The cottage is west facing so sunsets galore but don’t think the mornings aren’t amazing as well as the sun rises and lights up the bay with a beautiful progression of light that has to be seen to be fully appreciated... , The property boasts approximately 200 feet of waterfront with a mix of Georgian Bay rock and sand beach.
The property is equipped with a boat ramp to launch boats or jet skis, two kayaks, a gazebo, fire pit, swing set, Muskoka chairs and of course a dock. The dock itself is simply massive and is wired for power to power up trolling motors or other dock friendly electronics. The sandy shallow entrance at the water's edge makes it easy for the elderly to walk into the lake and a great place for the young ones to safely splash and play. The water at the end of the large dock is deep, perfect for jumping into the refreshing lake to cool down on hot summer days. As the property is surrounded by crown land, there is an abundance of wildlife around, so be sure to keep your eyes alert for deer, and fox and keep your ears alert for the haunting call of the loons.
Georgian Bay is a bit of a misnomer as it is actually a very large bay in Lake Huron. At 15,000 square kilometres it's not that much smaller than Lake Ontario (18,958 square kilometres), earning it the nickname "the sixth Great Lake." With more than 1,995 kilometres of grayish-pink granite shoreline, it is part of a UNESCO biosphere reserve and a summer freshwater playground for boaters, anglers, and kayakers.
Needless to say, if you rent or bring a boat, there is plenty to see and check out (especially being among the 30,000 islands!), such as the island area of Pointe au Baril with its famous Hole-In-The-Wall beach and Ojibway Club, one of few remaining turn-of-the-century lodges built in that part of Ontario. Another major tourist attraction are shipwrecks, Georgian Bay and Tobermory is known as the “shipwreck capital of Canada”. So much to do and so little time, so what are you waiting for!
