Welcome to this lovely classic cottage and its annex nestled on 1.5 acres of land in scenic Madawaska Valley. The cottage property offers an exceptional and very rare holiday experience as it boasts 200 feet of sandy beach in a quiet private cove with fabulous views of Kamaniskeg Lake and stunning sunsets. The cottage has been in the family for 3 generations creating great remembrances making hundreds and hundreds of sand castles, fortresses, waterways and bridges in the sand!
The cottage and annex stretch across the length of the cove with views out to the lake from most all rooms. The layout of the cottage makes it ideal for 2 families with a one bedroom annex at one end and the main 4 bedroom cottage at the opposite end with a Muskoka room connecting the two.
The interior of the main cottage maintains its 3 generation historic flavour with wood panelled walls, brick fireplace in the living room, carpeted bedrooms and comfortable furnishings throughout. One of the bedrooms has an antique brass bed that was the owner’s great grandparents from the early 1900’s.
The annex is almost a completely self-sufficient living space with 2 queen beds in the bedroom, a 3-piece bathroom, a living room and a kitchenette.
The Muskoka room is a great gathering spot for the family on inclement days where you can still relax and enjoy the summer breezes through the screen door, taking in the lake views and still feeling one with nature.
Of course, it goes without saying that the great outdoors at this property will fill your days with endless hours of fun in the sun!
From the cottage there is a gentle slope down an expansive lawn to the amazing beach with shallow entry making it ideal for both young and old alike. With 2 paddleboats, 2 rowboats and a canoe at your disposal, many family members can be out on the water at the same time. Why not try paddle boat races like the owner’s grandchildren love to do?! Another favourite thing the grandkids do is fish right in front of the cottage as the adults watch them excitedly bring in the big ones with Bass, Trout and Pickerel being the most commonly caught.
For avid boaters, there is approximately 90 km. of shoreline on Kamaniskeg Lake and a river system that allows boat access to other lakes. For the even more adventurous you are minutes away from the Madawaska River with white water rafting!
As the day unwinds, relax in the lakeside hammock or on the loungers on the beach and keep an eye out for the majestic great blue heron who often nests on the little tiny island just in front of the cottage.
After a BBQ dinner, gather round the lakeside fire pit and watch as the sun sets stunningly on top of the rocks on Blueberry Point and the sky fills with millions of stars. The quiet here at night can be deafening, until the haunting call of the loons breaks the silence, quite extraordinary. Wow, gotta love cottage life!
