Welcome to this absolutely stunning Moonstone log and timber frame cottage made from hand selected Northern Ontario white pine. Even in its grandness, with soaring cathedral ceilings throughout, you will immediately be drawn into the subtle combination of luxury and casual cottage comfort.
A quiet 4 kilometre country road, just off of a main road, takes you slowly through rolling wooded terrain and by the time you arrive at the property, you will feel the weight of your busy city life evaporate as you settle into your peaceful surroundings. Nestled on 3 acres of well-treed land, the 3,000 sq. ft., one level, 4 bedroom cottage sits on a quiet end/arm of Sparrow Lake, named Deep Bay.
As you step into the impressive granite floor foyer that leads to the expansive open concept kitchen/dining/living room, you will be greeted with breathtaking lake views from the abundance of large picture windows. The kitchen is every chef's dream come true with modern stainless steel appliances, a small wine refrigerator, a large kitchen island and plenty of counter space for preparing meals while enjoying serene views out to the lake. Dine at the beautiful live edge harvest table with built in seating then retreat to the living room for after dinner drinks and a late night movie in front of the gorgeous floor to ceiling stone fireplace.
The tastefully appointed master bedroom is an oasis unto itself with its own floor to ceiling stone fireplace, a sitting area, a spa-like 5-piece ensuite and a private and direct walk-out to its own deck, the perfect spot for early morning coffees or late evening night caps. Two spacious bedrooms are at the same end of the cottage as the master bedroom, while the bunk bedroom is at the opposite end. The cottage also boasts a screened-in Muskoka room with a large comfy sectional couch, where you can relax and read a long overdue novel or take an afternoon nap. The owners love to sit out here on quiet evenings, where you can clearly hear the chant/song of the Whip-poor-wills and feel one with nature.
As amazing as the cottage itself is, the owners fell in love with the property and all the natural wonders it had to offer, especially all the amazing wildlife to be seen; deer, minks, chipmunks, beavers and birds galore!
A set of wide gradual granite stairs take you down to 275 feet of natural water frontage, 60 feet of it being sand with shallow lake entry. Great for both young and old alike as the younger children can safely splash and play for hours on end while the parents and/or grandparents stay refreshed wading in the lake while keeping an eye out for the kids. With a southwest exposure, relax and spread out on the dock and enjoy sun filled days from early morning to early evening while taking in the splendid long lake views. Being in Deep Bay makes the water calmer, especially in the morning, and provides privacy, seclusion and serenity, perfect for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and paddleboating, and if you're lucky you might even see the Blue Herons that hide in the bay.
For avid boaters, bring or rent a boat and explore Sparrow Lake which connects to the Trent Severn Waterway through a series of lock systems. The Trent-Severn Waterway is a 386-kilometre-long canal route (240 miles) connecting Lake Ontario at Trenton to Georgian Bay and Lake Huron at Port Severn. Its major natural waterways include the Trent River, Otonabee River, Kawartha Lakes, Lake Simcoe, Lake Couchiching and Severn River. Its scenic, meandering route has been called "one of the finest interconnected systems of water navigation in the world". And for avid anglers, the fishing is very good with Walleye, Musky, Northern Pike and both Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass in the lake.
No day in cottage country is complete without a BBQ dinner, followed by after dinner beverages on the deck and best of all, roasting marshmallows around a lakeside fire pit. As the sky fills with a blanket of stars and the haunting call of the loons along with singing frogs feature as your musical backdrop, it will be impossible to believe that life could get any better! For short day trips, the area has much to offer. A twenty minute drive takes you to Lake St George Golf Course featuring 27 holes that will test your skill and a 35 minute drive takes you to Orillia, offering pretty much anything you may need to shop for. If an evening of entertainment is of interest, Casino Rama is just a 40 minute drive away.
