Welcome to the charming and idyllic Carrier Cottage on Parker Island. Parker Island is a special place full of a history of all season activity. Originally, the island was established for seasonal hunting, fishing and various kinds of water sports. Now, this quiet island community proudly boasts a number of homes and seasonal residences. This waterfront cottage is located on the Lake Huron side of the Bruce Peninsula overlooking Myles Bay. It is 25 minutes south of the town of Tobermory and 35 minutes north of Wiarton, and ten minutes west of the Village of Lions Head. It is a special place for making memories with family and friends.

The Carrier Cottage offers complete privacy surrounded by a variety of indigenous trees and spectacular lakefront views of Myles Bay, and Black Creek Provincial Park with its blond, sandy beach. You can easily kayak, canoe or walk to Black Creek’s beach from the cottage The cottage has a dock, and a sandy rock shoreline with a shallow sand-based entry into the water for kids, and tentative adult swimmers. Spend your day along the cottage’s waterfront, sitting on the dock, swimming in the clean waters of Myles Bay or just sit and relax on the front deck and watch the beautiful Lake Huron sunsets. In the winter months, enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking from the cottage while also accessing ice fishing and snowmobiling trails that are close by.

A very clean and bright, two-storey, 1500 sq. ft. year-round stone waterfront cottage. The open concept first floor is designed with a full kitchen with a dishwasher, dining and living areas, which feature two eight-foot patio doors offering a majestic view of Myles Bay. On each floor there are two three-piece bathrooms (i.e., toilet, vanity and shower). The second floor offers four sizable bedrooms with good beds: one king, one queen, one double and a single over double bunkbed. Heating: A ductless system offers both heating and air-conditioning, and a propane stone fireplace anchors the first-floor space.

PHOTO STORY: A Day at the Cottage

A summer vacation at the Carrier Cottage begins for me, when I cross over the land causeway and take a pause, and breath in the my first sight of Myles Bay, and look to the point, from the right side of the car, where in the distance is the stone cottage nestled behind a community of trees. Driving up the tree lined circular driveway, I capture my first glimpse of the cottage; I park, and enter the cottage, where I just want to drop my bags, sit down, relax and enjoy the view of Myles Bay. Then, we all run upstairs to decide who gets what bedroom --- hmmm… which one of the spacious second floor bedrooms should I choose? - all the beds look so comfy.

But, it is calming waters of Myles Bay that draw me outside to explore. I love the property's extensive sandy and rock shoreline, which offers easy entry to the water for taking out a kayak, paddle-board, canoe or just to go swimming. During my week stay, the cottage property provides plenty of areas to play in the sand, sit in the sun or shade, hangout on the dock, read a book in a hammock, or play a game of croquet or just sit on the deck. Of course, every morning I get up and go for a walk to the sandy beach at Black Creek Provincial Park, where I can see the cottage across the water. If I need veggies for dinner, I take a 10 minute drive into Lions Head to the farmer's market (Saturdays) or explore further north on the Bruce Peninsula to my favorite beach - Singing Sands or we all go for a hike and discover the hiking trails along the Bruce Trails.

But, at the end of day, I always make back it back to the cottage for our nightly ritual --- sitting on the dock and watching the stunning Lake Huron sunsets, and as night falls off - we build a fire in the fire pit, and roast marshmallows or make yummy S'mores. As the summer vacation winds down, I think....How about a winter vacation at the Carrier Cottage? I know I can always come back in the winter to sit by the fireplace or enjoy the peaceful winter wonderland or take in activities like cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice-fishing and snowshoeing.

Enjoy your stay, and please be respectful of your neighbours.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Carrier Cottage in all four seasons. From the heat of the summer months to the coldness of winter, our stays were always cozy and welcoming with views that are second to none. It’s a perfect place to host family and friends. The cottage has all of the amenities to guarantee a memorable stay, from sizeable bedrooms with comfy beds, to a well-stocked kitchen and a relaxing living area for chilling and watching the sunsets. There are lots of activities to keep busy, swimming, kayaking or just relaxing on the deck or the dock with a drink in hand enjoying the views. We will definitely go back again and again.

Beautiful, tranquil experience

By: Trip Date: 05/20/2022

The stay at Carrier Cottage was everything we had hoped for and so much more. It was an easy drive up, and a relief not to have to take the 400! The cottage was so clean and outfitted with everything we needed. From the ever important coffee maker to a kitchen with every utensil you would need (and more!) the views were outstanding. We had the fortunate experience of watching a beautiful lightning show from the main room looking over the water. Right when we walked in, we felt at home. So grateful to be able to spend a few days in this tranquil home. Cannot wait to book again this upcoming summer!

An amazing weekend at the Carrier Cottage

By: Trip Date: 07/02/2022

My girlfriend and I spent a weekend at the Carrier Cottage with our friends last summer, and are already planning our next visit in 2023. Our drives from and back to Toronto were much faster and easier than expected, and we were able to pick up our groceries for the weekend and pass through a few lovely towns along the way.
We had an amazing time fishing, swimming, and kayaking through Lake Huron. The property itself is peaceful and private, which allowed us to relax and unplug from our usual city life. The cottage is clean and cozy, and we enjoyed every minute of our time there. Great beds, showers, and kitchen!

I would highly recommend it to any couples/families looking for a fun week/weekend away, lake-side!

A fabulous experience at the Carrier Cottage!

By: Trip Date: 07/01/2022

My partner and I spent one of the most memorable weekends at the Carrier Cottage last summer, and are planning to go back every year. Nestled on a beautiful, idyllic property, the cottage is a place of tranquility and charm.  It was super clean, comfortable, and well maintained, both inside and out.  We spent our long weekend relaxing out on the dock, kayaking, paddling, and swimming by day – and barbecuing, roasting marshmallows, and watching the sunsets and stars by night. We cooked amazing meals in their beautiful kitchen, which had every pot, pan, and utensil that we needed.  The beds were new and very comfortable, and we slept well every night.  We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and can’t wait to go back with our friends & family!

Thank you Carrier Cottage – we will see you again soon.

Love the experience at the Carrier Cottage

By: Trip Date: 07/11/2022

I loved going to Carrier Cottage on Parker Island…. A beautiful piece of tranquility as you cross the causeway amidst the waters of Lake Huron, the herons and gulls and yes, swans… adding to the tranquil sounds of the movement of the clear, blue waters; arriving at a beautifully appointed stone cottage with thoughtful, artistic choices throughout… careful attention to the details that matter…
Comfortable beds with large windows to enjoy the sights and sounds of magnificent Lake Huron, the swimming, kayaking, paddling and the many walks and pathways to endless discovery. The four-bedroom cottage is a haven with all the important amenities to make your stay feel welcoming and comfortable; a memorable place for gathering with friends and family.

An absolute gem

By: Trip Date: 08/05/2022

We had a wonderful family vacation at Carrier Cottage in August 2022. The cottage is perfect for cooking family meals in the well appointed, open kitchen with two different, lovely views. The living room set up is so cozy and conducive to gathering to chat or play one of the many fun games provided. Such an unexpectedly fun way to spend evenings and even a rainy day…….comfy inside while enjoying the spectacular view from the wall of windows. There is also ample space upstairs in the roomy bedrooms for everyone to have their own space when needed.
We loved having coffee on the deck in the morning, watching the loons and the early morning paddlers. During the day we had great fun with all the amenities provided…..paddle board, canoe, kayaks and outdoor games. There are lots of lovely places to walk, and best of all just sitting on the dock. The sunsets will knock your socks off!!
We had a fabulous memorable time, and have already booked for 2023.
