    The Keeshigonong Cottage ("Home of the Cedars") is a truly unique vacation retreat. Located on Sydney Bay on the undeveloped shores of Georgian Bay, is an environmentalist's dream.
    This cottage is environmental friendly with electricity supplied by solar power and a composting toilet. Situated on a 50-acre lot, surrounded by a mix of cedars, birch trees and alvar.The property features many walking and hiking trails. as well as kilometers of shoreline you can stroll at sunset.
    There is now potable running cold water at the cottage. There are no indoor showers here, there is however both a camp shower that you can warm up in the sun and also a cold water shower outside at the cottage. There are showers at the Cape Croker Park, 3km away.

Please Note:

  • This cottage is powered soley by the sun. Please do not bring electrical equipment that requires highpower. Examples of such equipment include juicers, blenders and TV's. Portable computersare fine if they are not running continuously. Smaller electronic devices such as iPods, cell phones, tablets and speakers are ok.

  • Shoreline consists of clay and flat limestone rock. Gradual entry. Great fossils for the kids to explore, but please remember to leave them at the shore for others to enjoy to. There are two sand beaches close by one at the Cape Croker Park and one 2 km away.


  • No child safety issues. Children should not be left unattended by the water./li>


  • Five Stars out of Five. The owner stops by on a regular basis to maintain the composting toilet and gardens around the property. His intention is not to intrude but is simply there to maintain the operation of the cottage.


  • No docking facilities on the property. Boat launch facilities are located .5 km from cottage at the Cape Croker Park


  • Cottage is not designed for wheel chair access.


  • (***2 additional guests will be considered, $50.00 charge per person/per night and must be approved in advance by Individuals 16 years of age or older count as adults.
  • Pets negotiable: Cats are not permitted. There is a $75 fee per dog to a maximum of 2. Pets that are staying indoors at night must be in a kennel. Pets must be on a leash outdoors.
  • Drinking and wash water is supplied directly from the community's water line -- cold water only at this point, but it can be heated on the stove.
  • There is no indoor shower at the cottage. However, there is an outdoor cold water shower on the east side of the cottage. A camp shower-bag can be warmed in the sun for hot water. Hot showers are available at the Cape Croker Indian Park, 3 km to the west.

  • Renters are responsible to do a full clean of the cottage (cleaning supplies provided) and remove all garbage/recycling at the end of the rental period. If this is not done cleaning/garbage disposal fees will be charged.
